Canister Collection Devices Overview

The Passive Air Sampling Kits are available in a wide range of sampling flow ranges and in stainless steel or Silcosteel® coating. The kits are excellent for sampling times from 1 hour to 60 hours or for grab sampling.

The kits are easy to assemble for field sampling (Please note the air sampling canisters are sold separately). An improved particulate filter inside the critical orifice fitting reduces the number of potential leak sites.

Canister Collection Devices Design

The major components of the Passive Air Sampling Kits are:

• ¼-inch Inlet Tubing: the ¼-inch tubing includes a stainless steel nut on the inlet end to block rain from directly entering the sampling train.
• Critical Orifice: an interchangeable sapphire critical orifice allows for control of the flow with very high precision.
• Veriflo™ SC423XL Flow Controller: a high-quality device designed to maintain a constant mass flow as the pressure changes from 30” Hg to 5” Hg (it is recommended to stop sampling at or below 5” Hg of vacuum). All wetted parts of the flow controller can be Silcosteel®-coated.
• Vacuum Gauge: fitted to the flow controller, the vacuum gauge monitors canister pressure change during sampling.

Various sizes of canisters as well as different canister-treatments are available.
