Tedlar® and Teflon® Gas Sampling Bags Overview

Bags are used particularly in areas where the concentration is above detection limits of common analytical instruments. New Star Environmental bags are constructed of Tedlar® (PVF) 2 mil film, the preferred material for gas sampling bags. Tedlar® is non-reactive, extremely low in permeability and flexible over a wide range of temperatures. Bags are heat-sealed for leak-proof operation.

APPLICATIONS

• Grab Sampling: to determine ceiling levels or short-term exposure limits as specified by NIOSH/OSHA standards
• Gas Blending: frequently required in analytical laboratory procedures such as industrial quality control
• Calibration Standards: analyzing air in the ppm region often requires daily calibration standards
• Site Sampling: used to check for pump or sample contamination

Tedlar® and Teflon® Gas Sampling Bags Design

Standard Tedlar® and Teflon® bags are equipped with a Teflon® nut. Type and location of desired valve configurations as well as the location of optional corner grommets is to be specified. A very typical configuration consists of a dual fitting arrangement that includes a Roberts valve for sample collection or extraction and a 1/4-inch JACO union with septum for needle extraction in the laboratory. Standard maximum size is 48 x 48-inches; however, custom dimensions can be made-to-order.
